I was searching for a new face cream in Avon's catalogue after I'd used up the hydrating cream from their Nutraeffects line. I always like to experiment and test out new products, so I decided to choose something from their Planet Spa line, since I'd never had any facial cream from that line. I knew the Planet Spa line was Avon's best quality, so I gave the whole Planet Spa Luxuriously Refining Collection with black caviar extract a go. Honestly, I was attracted to the gold-black packaging and the word "caviar".
All of the products come in separate paper box packaging, as do most Planet Spa products. I used all of the products simultaneously so I could give you a better review of the collection. My favorite item is definitely the Luxuriously Refining with black caviar extract Facial Moisturiser, just because you can actually see a difference on your skin, after just one use! It really rejuvenates the skin overnight. I can tell by the way it heals any pimple marks, scabs or dry patches, and it neutralises redness! The light, gel-like formula leaves the skin glowing thanks to the reflective particles. Just notice how pearlescent it looks! It dries within 5 minutes and it has a universal fresh scent. No seafood smell, like the name would suggest :) It comes in a plastic jar with a twist off cap, which is good because you can get all of the product out. This moisturiser will undoubtably work for any skin type! It's a must have.
The Luxuriously Reviving Eye Smoother is the product I saw least effect while using. It might be because I don't actually have any problems with my eye area. For me, it's not doing anything bad, so I just use it because I've been told you should nourish the skin around your eyes. Again, it's a gel formula with purple shimmer so it's supposed to brighten the under-eye area and eliminate any dark circles. Maybe someone else can share their experience, because I really didn't see any difference after using it a few months...
The consistency of the Luxurious Refining Peel Off Face Mask is thick, sticky and gel-like with gold particles. You have to put it on quick, because it almost instantly dries on the skin. I leave it on for 20 minutes to get the most out of the product. It's a peel of mask, but it doesn't peel off in one piece. It takes a couples of tries to get it off entirely. Because I usually put it on in the evenings, I would wake up the next day with some excess product on my face. While taking off the mask, you get the feeling that your literally removing all the dead skin and dirt with each tug. Once removed, the skin is softer to the touch and left with a subtle glow. Remember, this mask has revitalizing not hydrating effects.

It all started when I purchased the Avon Naturals Radiance Rose Water just because it was ridiculously cheap and I needed a new face tonic. A couple of days in, I went to a DM drugstore and started browsing their natural cosmetics range - products go under the name, Alverde Naturkosmetik. They claim to be of 100% natural organic origin, with no synthetic smell, colors or conservatives. I'm still skeptical that such a product, made with only natural organic essentials oils would cost so little. I'm no biochemist, so I cannot elaborate on the product ingredients, hence, I have to trust that they've written no lies. I saw that they have a product very similar to the Avon Rose Water that I was using, so I decided to buy it and compare. Here are my thoughts...
Avon Naturals Radiance Rose Water
First of all, Avon's Naturals line doesn't fall under the category of certified natural cosmetics. The smell of the products in this range is definitely inspired by nature, but the products are most probably artificially perfumed. Avon's cleansing water is infused with rose and does not contain alcohol, making the product very gentle with a powdery fresh rose smell. It doesn't dry out the skin and is an all around excellent cleansing water if you aren't looking to solve any skin problems. It leaves a very subtle scent on the skin with no stickiness, but you definitely feel the product on your face. The packaging is very simple and I actually like that it comes in a 150ml bottle, because I usually get tired of using the same product. This one I can use up in a month or two and purchase a new one. It's practical for travel as well. A definite repurchase. (price: 109 din)
DM's Alverde Wild Rose Face Tonic
In comparison the Avon's Rose Water, DM's Alverde Wild Rose Face Tonic is a certified natural product. Based on this, all of the ingredients should be of natural (even organic) origin. However, this product does contain alcohol. The smell is much more complex, intense and citrusy. This formula is more watery with almost no hydrating features, leaving the skin feeling clean with only a subtle smell. It's as if you literally washed your face with rose water. The packaging resembles the rest of the products in the line, clean looking white plastic bottle with a flip open cap that, unfortunately, easily breaks off. So, which one do I prefer? It's a tough call, given that the products are too similar. Somehow I'm leaning toward the Avon on just because I prefer the more gentle smell. Both products are very good given their price. You won't go wrong with either one. (price: 243 din)
Alverde Perfect Tint CC Day Cream With Porcelain Flower Extract
I've always used tinted creams and moisturizers during the day, just because I'm so pale and don't want to put on foundation everyday. I'm also one of those people that regularly goes to the clearance section at DM Drogerie's to see what they don't need :) The prices here are usually marked down by 50%. Seeing this CC cream, I decided to buy it, thinking that it had colored particles that would add a bit of color to my face. Unfortunately (or not), the cream only has reflecting particles that leave the skin with a pearly glow. It has a very nice powdery, floral scent, reminiscent of the wildrose tonik even though it's not part of the same range. It's quite fragrant so keep that in mind if your someone that doesn't enjoy fragrant creams. Apart from that, you can really feel it on the face - it's not a very light cream and I would only recommend it to people with dry skin. Apart from the glow, this cream smoothes out pores which is what I love. You can actually see the difference on my face! It kept my face hydrated and protected with SPF 6 throughout the day. It contains olive oil, vitamin E, organic almond and organic jojoba oil which should all help me maintain a blemish-free complexion. Overall? It boosts tired looking skin and leaves the face with a radiant glow. Definitely more suitable for winter. (price: 134 din)
Alverde 3in1 Deo Roll-on with Bio-hamamelis and Bio-Rice
I've started noticing some unwanted side-effects to using regular drugstore deodorants and have switched to trying natural deodorants. This is my first purchase and sadly, I will have to keep looking. This product just does not work for me. It's a typical roll-on deodorant with rice and hamamelis extract that it comes in glass packaging, making it feel and smell more natural. It's a liquid formula that takes a few minutes to dry. For the first few hours of the day, when I'm not in the heat or physically active, it does the job of preventing odor. But it's far away from the claimed 48 hour protection. On the bright side, it doesn't leave those unwanted white or yellow marks, and it's aluminum free. Would I repurchase? Nope. It is too weak for my needs. Basically, it does not eliminate odor. So if you're like me and you sweat (some people are lucky that they don't), you can definitely pass. (price: 345 din)
I'm just wondering, is there a natural deodorant that would be strong enough for the average sweating person? Any recommendations?
I've been dancing around Avon's Luxe collection for quite a while now. I'm not that attracted to the sophisticated gold packaging so I was more curious about the quality of the products. The first thing I purchased and repurchased from this collection was the Luxe Volume Extravagance mascara. For me, it's the best mascara from Avon in general. After that, my interest grew stronger and when the Luxe Couture Creme lipstick collection went on sale for 350 din (the lowest price since its launch), right away I bought two: Designer Red and Nude Slip - the nude I needed and the other I couldn't resist.
Both come in a black boxes with gold lettering while the lipstick tubes are made of plastic with pure gold coating. The collection has 10 standard shades and 4 limited edition shades that come in a slightly different tube with black leopard print. All of the shades have a pearly satin finish that visually plumps the lips. This lipstick glides on smoothly giving full coverage with just one swipe. It's so light that you cannot feel it on your lips. This lipstick gives you soft and moisturized lips with perfect color pigmentation. A definite must have for people with dry lips.
Designer Red falls under the category of orange-red shades that mostly suit medium to dark complexions. I've managed to pull it off with a winged nude eye and flawless skin. This vibrant hue tends to bleed because of its hydrating and creamy formula so make sure to apply lip liner before hand. Remove excess with a paper towel to avoid getting lipstick on your teeth.
Have you tried anything from the Luxe collection that you can recommend?
There was something about getting ready for a romantic dinner with my love on Valentine's Day, that just made me want to paint the whole day in pink! Hot pink to be exact. Products I used:
Avon Ideal Luminous blush in shade Peach - 429 din

Golden Rose Velvet Matte lipstick in shade 04 - gift
Sephora body cream - 349 din on sale (regular price 1,550 din)
Avon Supershock Vivid liquid eyeshadow in Sparkling Platinum - 329 din
I listed the prices so you know the minimum cost of all products. All of the listed prices are the lowest verified prices.
The blush I can't seem to use up is Avon Ideal Luminous blush in shade Peach. I swear, I have had this blush for a couple of years now and as you can see, it still looks like new! It comes in Avon's typical shiny black plastic packaging with a full sized mirror and small soft brush. The compact brush comes in handy when travelling or when in a hurry. I personally use it all the time since I don't have a separate blush brush. The formula is soft and sheer but with really buildable pigmentation as shown in the photos. It has tiny luminous particles that give the cheeks a soft glow with a very very subtle shimmer. It's not heavily pigmented so you can really control the amount you put on. On the last picture I went a little overboard so you see how it looks when several layers are applied. It stays on for about 6 hours. If you're going for a healthy and natural flushed look and have a lighter skin tone, I recommend you give this blush a try.
I've never had a liquid eyeshadow. I just thought they are too hard to work with and I never really found a shade I liked. When Avon released 3 new metallic shades to their Supershock Vivid collection, I realized that the silver shade could be a great eyeshadow highlight to use in the inner corners of my eyes. As you can see on the photos below, I've put it to good use even as an eyeliner. It comes in a lipgloss packaging with a doe foot applicator. I love the golden rose lettering! It makes the packaging look so chic. Before each use make sure to shake well, because the liquid separates from the pigment. Although it looks really watery in the tube, when it goes on the eyelid, it dries really fast. When using it as a eyeliner, I use the applicator to run a line down my lash line and with an eyeliner brush I finish off the wing. This can also be done just with the applicator but if you want to be precise, it is easier with a brush. You get good pigmentation even with one swipe (see photo above). I often combine it with black eyeshadow to achieve a metallic black smokey eye. In this case I apply the product to my eyelid with the applicator and smudge it out or blend it in with a brush. The product really is versatile. I plan on buying more shades when the product goes on sale.
Last year, I was deserving enough to get these simple Pandora stud earrings perfect for everyday and almost every outfit. I love them and wear them year-round. I wouldn't have picked better ones myself. But I must say, after finding out the price, I undoubtedly think you can find a similar style at local jeweler shops at a much lower cost. I restricted my boyfriend from buying any other expensive brand name jewelry, because this one piece is really enough to be a token of his love, for now.
I used his and my favorite shower gel - Avon Senses pampering divine time vanilla & sandalwood moisturizing shower cream. The smell is just... oh, I can't even...! He loves it, I love it, it's my favorite from the collection! Perfect for the winter time, it smells sophisticated and sexy at the same time! It's much more creamy and a lot thicker than other shower gels and has 100% extracts of natural origin. It is a MUST. Another must when I get out of the shower is the Advance Techniques Smooth as Silk serum. I swear by Avon's hair serums. I don't see much of a difference between the four they offer, so I usually opt for which ever one is on sale at the moment. It's a cure for frizzy and dry hair and leaves you with a healthy shine and perfect smell.
And the star of the post - Golden Rose velvet matte lipstick in shade 04! I got this lipstick as a gift and it's been sitting on my vanity since summer so when Valentine's Day came around, I thought it was the perfect day for my lips to dress in hot pink. This lipstick is very dry so make sure you prepare your lips (exfoliate and/or hydrate), because it won't tolerate cracks. Learn from my mistake. On the plus side, because it's dry it also last long. It almost doesn't leave any marks on glass. It's also very matte and pigmented with no particular smell. The thing I don't like about it besides its dryness is the packaging. I really pay attention to product design and this just doesn't make it for me. The quality of the plastic I would say is good. It would withstand a few falls, but the thing that bothers me is the gold print on the cap. I didn't want to include it in the photo so the print wouldn't disturb the aesthetic of my picture, lol. The brand and name of the collection is written in this gold foil print that just makes it look so cheap. I would rather it be blank, which I assume it will be after a few uses.
Because of the intense color, I've been hesitant to try it during the daytime, but with subtle eyes, I think it looks good. It's definitely a summery shade, perfect for hot nights, but can be worn in the winter whenever you are feeling lovey dovey. I used a soft brown eyeshadow on the upper lid and a dark grey eyeshadow on the lower lid and colored in my eyebrows. I then added a metallic silver eyeliner to contrast the warm tone of the lipstick and a dash of blush and bronzer. Just before going out to dinner I added a black eyeliner to give the eye more of a definition. This shade of lipstick really goes well with neutral clothing because it plays it up and adds character. I loved how it looked with a white cashmere turtleneck during the day.
I've been true to my nude eye shadow palettes from the day I started using makeup. That means 10 years of nude shades only. I can't believe I was that afraid of experimenting with color! Whenever I did try something new, it didn't seem it flattered me as well as The Nude Family.
It was definitely time for a change of color. Avon's True Color Eyeshadow Quad in the shade Precious Shells was the perfect transition. It was released as part of their 2015 summer collection, hence the name and print. The palette consists of 4 shades. The fairest ivory shade is ideal for highlighting under the eyebrows, above the cheekbones and on the nose. The next light shimmery beige shade I use as a base because it's quite sheer. The third shade - my favorite - is a sort of fish scale, peacock, metallic copper-turquoise color. It cannot be described in words, I'm sorry :) It's such a unique shade and gives off the impression of having different shades depending on the angle you look at it. I use it on the outer halves of my lids. The last, darkest shade is a matte teal green ideal for contouring the eye. I put it on the outer corner of my eyes and in the creases and blend it out because it is really pigmented.
I've only recently started using Avon's Eye Shadow Primer. It's a universal primer that holds eye shadow well into the night without creasing. I absolutely recommend it! With this primer, my eye makeup stays on until the next day. Of course, with touch ups required. It comes in a glass pot with black plastic cap. The best thing about it, is that you can't go wrong with the shade because it only comes in a universal shade. The texture is creamy and easy to apply with fingers or with a concealer brush. I personally like to do it with my fingers.
To hydrate my skin, I use Avon's tinted moisturizer Perfecting Tint Release Moisturizer SPF 20. Now it goes under the name Nutra Effects Radiance Tinted Moisturizer. It comes in a tube packaging and when you squeeze it out, it's a white cream with pigmented micro grains. The grains blend nicely into your skin giving you a subtle glowing finish and color to pale or dull skin. I'm not sure it would do the same to darker skin tones. If you're not looking to cover up any imperfections and have normal to dry skin, I truly recommend this cream for daily use.
I personally do not use foundation unless absolutely necessary, meaning - only during breakouts. Of course we all want to have porcelain skin, but most of us just aren't born that way. It's important to have healthy hydrated skin and if there happen to be freckles, pores or a pimple here and there, just accept it. The men will definitely appreciate your face not rubbing off on them.
