We love when our grandma surprises us and makes a huge batch of her special buckwheat waffles. They are especially good to take on road trips. She perfected the recipe by making two batches a week and having us test out every single one to see what we like best. It was worth all the extra calories because in the end she ended up with the perfect combination of sweetness and texture. You can eat them for breakfast, dessert or just as a snack with fruit and coffee, tea or a smoothie.
Nema ništa lepše nego kad idemo na put a baka ili kako je mi zovemo bajka nas iznenadi i ispeče njen bakin kolač sa heljdinim brašnom. Usavršavala je recept, na početku praveći i po dve ture nedeljno kako bi na kraju našla prave mere. Heljda njenim galetama daje specifičan ukus pa se nemojte iznenaditi što uopšte ne liče na klasičan bakin kolač. Takođe, za nas pravi da ne budu veoma slatke, pa slobodno dodajte više šećera ukoliko volite slađe. Ili, imaćete povod zašto ih preliti medom ili javorovim sirupom ako ne ispadnu dovoljno slatke. Odlične su za doručak, užinu ili dezert uz voće i kafu, čaj ili smoothie.
Ingredients:
250 g lard (substitute for any type of oil or butter)
4 eggs
200 g sugar
1 pack (90 g) vanilla sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
300 ml milk
600 g buckwheat flour
Feel free to add any spices you like - cinnamon, cocoa or nutmeg.
Instructions:
Combine all the ingredients together into a bowl and whisk together. Ladle batter onto waffle iron and cook until done. Enjoy!
