I'm a biter. The state of my nails called for drastic measures, so I went in search of inspiration. I'm a practical girl, therefore, I prefer nails that fit into my everyday wardrobe and activities, so obviously artistic, holiday or event themed manicures were out of the question. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing pictures of nails covered in snowflakes, but wearing them would be limiting, style-wise.
Nails are like the cherry on top. They add to the overall look along with hair and makeup. Nails are an accessory that if not chosen right can through out of balance the entire concept you were aiming for. I should know... I end up doing my nails, or in most cases not doing them, 5 minutes before I'm out the door. So choose wisely and look for a style that will emphasize the look you're going for.

I somehow always opt for darker or nude nail polishes during winter and slowly make the transition into the brighter color palette once the summer days start stacking up. My winter collection consists of cherry red, burgundy, emerald green, dark purple, navy blue, grey + classic beige = greige. Metallic and sparkles also come in hand during the Holiday season.
While in search of something new, I found a couple of styles that fall into the wearable, everyday category and wanted to share with you some them. I fell in love with the matte effect look! It's a great way for me to play up the solid color option or reinvent your french tips. You can achieve this look by simply buying matte lacquer or top coat or using the steam. Just place your hands over steam while the polish is still wet (great thing to do while cooking - now that's multitasking :D). There are other methods with cornstarch, baking soda or eye shadow. You can watch the tutorial here.
Another trend that feels playful enough for me is the Chevron manicure. There are plenty of options how you can incorporate this trend but my fave's are...
And lastly, the look I went for is the foil French manicure. I find the classic French manicure to be too classy and elegant for my liking, so I modernized it with a metallic touch and light blueish grey polish. I love, love, love the final result!
